This is love.

God's love

It seems like I can never open the Bible without seeing something written about God’s love.  From the Old Testament to the New Testament, it is shown over and over again.

The whole chapter of 1 John 4 might describe God’s love better than any other place I have found in the Bible. I particularly love this part:

1 John 4:10-12 – This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

How amazing is it that God loves us so much that we have been saved from our sin when we don’t at all deserve it?  We are loved in spite of ourselves.  The Bible says that love is so much a part of God, that if we show love to others, it is a direct reflection of Him.

Though we deserve punishment for the way we ignore and mock God daily, Christ suffered and died to take our place.

This really is love.

It all comes down to those four letters: LOVE. If we remember that, and make it our focus and purpose, everything will fall into place as it’s supposed to.
